4 Hours in Philly - Mini Road Trip & Mindset Shift

Hello Friends!

I haven't posted much as I've been doing a lot of introspective work and reflection in the past month. Some major life events spurred this and I used this time wisely to redirect the focus on what I need, what I am doing, and where I am going. The truth is, nobody warns you when something good or bad happens, and it is entirely up to you on how you react or respond to these situations.

In my case, I am going through some fluctuating changes in one major life change, and have been seeing the light on the other side of the tunnel where I am emerging as the winner through all the obstacles life has thrown at me these short past 4 months in 2024 and the last 2 months since I moved to NYC.

There are things I am having to deal with that I will not mention on here but if you are close to me you will know about it. Some legal, tender, professional, all types of matter seem to let loose this year, let's just say.

I can happily say though I am never as happy as I am now with who I am today. Yesterday, my roommate, his old roommate, and his old roommate's boyfriend and I took a short day trip to Philadelphia. For those who know me, I love adventures. My roommate is the sweetest, most caring person ever, and after mentioning a need to get out of town, invited me along a lil driving adventure where we tagged along and drove his old roommate & his sweetheart to a family member's Quincineara in the outskirts of Philadelphia.

The ride was fun filled with insightful topics and conversation (these are smart people I was ridin' with!) and I was able to meditate a good portion of it too, my favorite thing to do on car rides.

After we dropped off the two, my roommate and I got to explore a bit of Philly by going to the Love Square and Chinatown. After realizing Philly drivers are just as maddening as NYC drivers, we roamed the streets of Chinatown and hunted down cheap fruits and eats. Unfortunately, we were both fasting so we didn't get to try any eats but I have to say, there sure are a hell lot of hot pot in their Chinatown!

We picked up the two and drove back to NYC 2 hours later. The ride back was just as fun as we chatted along about everything from romance to hispanic cultures. Going back into the city feeling fresh faced with a bit more clarity and space of mind and freedom to breathe (no pun intended), I felt it was much needed. I was not happy with some of the culture bits I was dealing with in NYC, and getting out of the city put me in a different mindset completely as I was able to get away from it all for a short period of time to readjust my mindset and shift my attitude and attention.

Did I mention I brought my dogs along? They loved it :).

Until next time!
